Notes
- Participation is only possible from the age of 6 years.
- You do not need a driver’s license to drive a quad bike.
- Before you start the quad ride, you will receive a brief training on the use of the quad, as well as the important safety instructions that must be followed.
- Wear comfortable clothes such as, long pants, T-shirt as well as comfortable shoes in the summer months. In the winter months it can get cooler in the desert, where you should then wear a jacket.
Tour Details
Pickup and Start of the Adventure
Your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Hurghada, El Gouna, Sahl Hasheesh, Makadi Bay, Soma Bay, or Safaga. From there, you’ll embark on an exciting journey in a 4×4 jeep to Umm Al Huwaytat, famously known as the “Ghost City,” located just 26 km from Safaga.
Arrival and Welcome
Upon arrival, enjoy a refreshing welcome drink and take a moment to relax. Facilities are available for you to freshen up before starting the exploration.
Journey Through the Ghost Town
Hop back into your jeep and set off for a thrilling ride to the abandoned village. Along the way, you’ll make several stops:
Panoramic Viewpoint: Capture breathtaking views of the entire village.
Historical Insights: Learn from your guide about the fascinating history of Umm Al Huwaytat. Once home to 16,000 locals, this vibrant community flourished as one of Egypt’s most important phosphate hubs under British ownership for 70 years. Schools, hospitals, mosques, and homes were constructed, but a devastating flood in 2000 led to the town’s abandonment, leaving it as a haunting yet captivating “Ghost Town.”
Return and Relaxation
After exploring, return to the starting point to savor a freshly prepared lunch, complete with mineral water and soft drinks.
