Half Day Dendera Excursion – The itinerary of this unforgettable morning

Luxreisen will pick you up from your accommodation early in the morning, around 06:00. Then we embark on the 220 km long road to Dendera. Please note that the route is different from Marsa Alam.

Arriving in Dendera we will visit the Temple of Hathor, who was identified with the famous Aphrodite in Ptolemaic and Greek times and with Venus in Roman times.

When we get to the temple we will visit together the sanatorium, the holy lake, the mamisi and a picture of Cleopatra. This illustration is the only one that has survived. Your Luxreisen travel guide will also show you enigmatic images inside the temple, in the crypt. In addition, we will be able to admire wonderful astronomical representations on the ceiling of the temple.

While admiring the representations, which, in addition to many depictions of ancient Egyptian gods, also contain the only remaining representation of Cleopatra, you will receive fascinating and incomparable insights into the history of mankind and the great cultures. All this makes the Dendera excursion a real must for anyone interested in culture.

You will also receive a lot of information about the Dendera lightbulb, the zodiac of Dendera and the first calendar in human history. Also, astrology will be a big theme during the Dendera excursion as the Dendera Temple served as a study center for astrology during its heyday.

  After an educational, unforgettable and very emotional excursion to Dendera, we will leave this magical place around 11:00 am and make our way back to your accommodation, where we will arrive around 1:00 pm.
